Bringing down the price isn't Canon's objective. The whole idea is to get you to part with as much of your money as possible. Even at 10K with hood, Canon will sell ship loads of this lens.I already feared that the hood would not be included with the lens. At one point started selling its 1D cameras without an AC adapter. So one day they might have the idea not to include the hood to bring down the price.
The EF 200-400L is internal zoom, and I suspect this, being a supertele, will be internal zoom as well.I'll be very surprised if it's an internal zoom - AFAIK all RF tele-zooms so far have been extending zooms. I also doubt very much that extenders will work at the short end. Hope I'm wrong. As for weight and size, I'll lay odds it'll be shorter and lighter than the EF300/2.8.
It is a bargain compared to the Nikon Noct, and it offersHoly moly, this would be absolutely game changing...for your wallet.![]()
Switch to Leica to get some respect about money.$650 for a lens hood? Doesn't it just contain air?
All wrong!I'll be very surprised if it's an internal zoom - AFAIK all RF tele-zooms so far have been extending zooms. I also doubt very much that extenders will work at the short end. Hope I'm wrong. As for weight and size, I'll lay odds it'll be shorter and lighter than the EF300/2.8.
you are the guy for 60-600 ;-(Seriously though...I love love love my old EF 70-200, it's my favorite lens, but I can't count how many times I wish I had an extra 100 on the end, especially for sporting events. On the other hand, I think I've wanted to go wider than 70 maybe....twice, ever, when I've selected the 70-200 for whatever thing it is I'm shooting that day.
Take the hood of the RF 100-400 as an alternative!Hard choices: RF 100-400, or the hood for this one. Hmmm...
Also, the 400/2.8 is only $12k:

EF traditionally had both types of zoom operation. The EF 200-400L is internal zoom, and I suspect this, being a super-tele, will be internal zoom as well.
He is talking about RF tele zooms. All wrong!
Check the 200-400.
