serial number

Tried to register my camera. Serial numbers not recognised. It's only 6 digits long. Does anyone else have a short number? My serial number is located on the bottom of the camera, on a sticker, black text on a silver background. P.S. the exif data does have a 12 digit serial number. The camera...
