Canon has released firmware version 1.0.8 for the Canon RF 100-300mm f/2.8L IS USM. This update imoproves tracking performance for both photography and videography applications.
I would like to point out that I was shooting video with the R1 in CLOG2 a few days ago and had major focusing issues with my RF 24-105 f/2.8L IS USM Z. After seeing this, I looked for a firmware update and it appears that there is ALSO a firmware update available for that lens as well as the RF 70-200 f/2.8L IS USM Z - specifically to address the R1 and R5 Mark II camera models. My next video project shoot is on Friday...so I'll see if that fixes it.
Lol. That was a typo on someone's part, the Canon USA page now says, "If the lens' firmware is already Version 1.0.8, it is not necessary to update the firmware."
Shot two interviews today with the 24-105 and 70-200 on the R1. I specifically had focus issues right around 35mm with the aforementioned settings consistently. I didn't have any problems at all today with the new lens firmware. I never thought of testing the lens with another camera body because I thought it was an issue with the R1...serves me right. Glad Canon was on top of this.
