Canon USA Cancelling Camera Price Drops Due to Tariffs

I think it is more a trade world war, because not only China is getting tariffs.

I've just listened to a podcast (German POV) about this "foreign policy".
They ended up with the theory that this will lead to a new world trade order with China stepping into gaps, that Mr. T. leaves open.
Did you know that Japan and South Korea already negotiating (say talking) with China to intensify trade relations?
Japan and South Korea! The closest partners of the US in the Asia!
The EU is now in talks with China as well. Given the size of the EU economy is not that far behind the USA between them and the other deals with soon to be former US trade partners it looks like this could all realign with the only loser being the United States. Trump's statement last week that EU countries were begging to do deals resulted in massive backlash over here, as an American in Portugal I got told over and over that his behavior and statements eliminated any chance of a deal with EU nations.

Empires eventually fall, but few have historically done so much damage to themselves so quickly.

13% of EU trade is with the US, 87% is not.

... Given the size of the EU economy is not that far behind the USA ...
Just for those not having the numbers, instead of "not that far behind" I would call the economy "almost equal":

EU market (source: wikipedia.org):
  • Population:
    449 mio. (est. 2024)
  • GDP:
    29 trillion $ (est. 2025)
US market (source: wikipedia.org):
  • Population:
    340 mio. (2024)
  • GDP:
    29 trillion $ (est. 2024)

The EU is also investing heavily in their tech sector, with a strong focus on open source and social media.

But had you invested, you instead could have made a killing on the market swing.
Oh, I see. I missed what was important in all this. Profiting. Let me tell you something, smart-ass. You think you "bought the dip". I don't give a fk about the money and profiting off people's misfortune and misery.

I care about our reputation in the world. I care about honesty, decency, fairness, and the rule of law. I care about the allies I've fought with. I care that we remove that stupid, fat, insane mfr from office. I care that people like you stop thinking the only thing that matters is profiting on the market manipulation by a 34x felon, adjudicated rapist, defamer, consumate liar, serial adulterer and national security risk you worship. YOU! In, front of everyone here, from all over the world, revealed what you are. You don't care that moron cost many people their life savings. You don't care China are cancelling all the contracts with our farmers. You don't care about the worldwide suffering. You bought the dip. Fk'em. That's you, maga boy. Thank you for telling us who you are. I believe you.

Guess what else? I don't believe you are in the market at all. Stupid fk.

Admin: Please don't ban me.These creeps need to be run out. They deserve shaming, ridicule, and ostracizing. There is no hope for these morons. No quarter.

We all know what’s going on economically on the planet, and it is obviously a challenging time for a lot of businesses. Japan is currently being hit with a 24% tariff and that seems to be affecting Canon USA’s pricing plans.

Couple this with:
for Americans, the plummeting exchange rate of the USD
for the rest of the world, Canon seeking to recover costs, like R&D and tooling, over a smaller number of units sold..
Who wins?
