The EU is now in talks with China as well. Given the size of the EU economy is not that far behind the USA between them and the other deals with soon to be former US trade partners it looks like this could all realign with the only loser being the United States. Trump's statement last week that EU countries were begging to do deals resulted in massive backlash over here, as an American in Portugal I got told over and over that his behavior and statements eliminated any chance of a deal with EU nations.I think it is more a trade world war, because not only China is getting tariffs.
I've just listened to a podcast (German POV) about this "foreign policy".
They ended up with the theory that this will lead to a new world trade order with China stepping into gaps, that Mr. T. leaves open.
Did you know that Japan and South Korea already negotiating (say talking) with China to intensify trade relations?
Japan and South Korea! The closest partners of the US in the Asia!
Empires eventually fall, but few have historically done so much damage to themselves so quickly.
