Yodobashi Camera has posted its sales summary for the second half of January, and the EOS R1 has resumed its rightful placement on top of the leaderboard.

It's incredible what twenty-four megapickles can do.

One camera for the Dark Lord of Canon on his dark throne
In the Land of Photo where the DR shadows lie.
One camera to rule them all, One camera to find them,
One camera to bring them all and in the bright light blind them
In the Land of Photo where the DR shadows lie.

Funny thing is the R100 has consistently stayed in the top ten on Amazon US. Currently #4. Richard may not like it, but it does sell in the US and likely China, too. It will take pictures at least as well as a 100D/200D/250D and I found both the SL1 and SL2 to be fine little cameras. I have since donated both to kids and grandkids, but I have lots of satisfying images from each. For the money, the R100 will bring new entrants to the photography game who can't, at this point, afford more. The R100 is the low price leader and sells for less than most 1/2.3 imager cameras. The only camera with a decent imager that comes close is the Panasonic G7.

It is in the Sony intensive care unit, recovering from shock after hearing that Sony will release a lens with an f8 opening.
The funniest thing about the FE400-800G is that lens is rumoured to be not sharp enough while being heavier than RF200-800. Let alone the might gem RF100-400.
This is quite easy to explain. Some big agency or project made a sizeable R1 order from Yodobashi. It will drop below top 10 again next month.
If it's commercial order, the agencies can order directly from Canon. Otherwise we could have seen a9iii a1/a1ii Z9 being the top of the chart because agencies are buying them in a lot.

R100 is the only option for people who doesn't want to go through the used market. It's what 1xxxD used to be.
