I shoot both Canon and Nikon. I realize that the only 3rd party and non-mirrorless lenses I shoot are lightly used adapted DSLR lenses like the Sigma 40mm f/1.4 and EF 24-70L f/2.8 . The OEM RF and Z lenses are of such high quality that 3rd party lenses offer little allure for this enthusiast. However, if my budget was more limited, or there was a niche lens--like the Tamron 35-150mm--that fit my shooting style, I would be less content.

Some individuals, as well. Not sure the media is entirely to blame for that.

True, true.

What dlsr models were still in the lineup in 2023? Wasn’t it only the 1dxiii and 5Div?

It may be market dependant. France has the 2000D, 250D, 4000D, 850D, 90D, 5D Mark IV, 6D Mark II, EOS-1D X for sale.

Then, India for example is still selling the 200D, 90D, 5D Mark IV, 3000D and 1500D.

Sometimes I think we wear these in here, so we can focus exclusively on high-end camera gear.

Meanwhile, the average unit price of DSLRs shipped from Japan this year is $320...so that tells you what type of DSLRs most people are actually buying. The average unit price of MILCs is $820, which also tells you that most people are buying APS-C models not the FF cameras we seem to care far more about in here.

You probably don't need more evidence that this forum is not representative of typical camera buyers, but there you go...

Adding to this, one agency probably buys more R1s and high end RF telephoto lenses than all of this forum’s users combined. We are a microcosm. A vocal and demanding one, but certainly not one that Canon Marketing and R&D likely listen too. If they did, I would have my 10-24mm F2.8 UWA, 14mm F1.8 with perfect corners and 200-600 mm F4 with built in 1.4x adapter that weights less than the 100-500mm!

My friend wanted a small camera that she could get into photography with and would be a step up from her iPhone. So we got her the R50 and I set it up for her. And I came away very impressed (at the time, I was an R5 and RP owner). It is well-designed for the smartphone user and has a number of smartphone-like features like the filters such as the skin-smoothing filter. In fact, it has a few features that even my R5, RP, and R5ii don\'t have. Luckily she didn\'t really want it for video as the iPhone is more spontaneous for social media.

Your ridicule is overstated.
Canon Japan's official site shows 1DXiii/5Div and Kiss X90 (I missed the latter).

I'm not suggesting that there isn't old stock in a reseller's warehouse but 32k seems a lot.

Yes, it looks to be market dependent. Canon Australia lists 8 but only 6 with pricing. 4 are APS-C.
Strange that India is not selling the 1DXiii.
