Which CPL to use with RF 24-105mm Z

Hello fellow rumor members,

I want to ask for some opinions on CPL for the 24-105Z lens. I’m going to travel in the next month to a very sunny seaside town. Which brand and size do you guys use?

I’ve Sigma Protective 82mm on the lens front, and am looking at Kase Revolution Magnetic or Sigma WR CPL 82mm at the moment, but worry it would be vignetted at 24mm stacking them both. That worries me, hope someone who has already stacked filters on the Z could chime in.

Thank you!

I would not stack a UV and CPL filter on any lens. Just one single filter at a time. I have good expirience with B+W circular polarizing filters. You can buy a ‘slim’ filter to avoid vignetting at 24mm.

I use B+W Käsemann slim CPLs. Agree that you shouldn’t stack filters, remove the UV filter before putting in the CPL. An exception would be stacking a CPL with an ND filter.

Having said that, in terms of vignetting on the RF 24-105/2.8 at 24mm, I can stack a B+W UV filter (Master/XS-Pro, their slim mount) with a B+W Käsemann slim CPL with no mechanical vignetting. I can also stack a standard mount 10-stop ND (I have the Schneider Optics one, B+W’s parent company since, but it’s the same thicker mount as B+W Basic/F-Pro) on the UV without vignetting. Only when stacking slim UV + standard ND + slim CPL do I see mechanical vignetting on the 24-105/2.8.
