Hi all, hope your day is wonderful.

As many know delivery of the R5 II has been extremely limited in Europe so while I wait I had some questions.

1 ) I am a video-n00b and would like to know what the best 4K video setting is if I don’t want to postprocess, but use the files directly from the camera. Can I shoot CLOG2 add a LUT in camera and have a finished video file to view on my tv ?

2) Does anyone know how the camera is as good weathersealed as the mk1 with the vent holes?

3) which mic that doesn’t pick up «camera sounds» would you recommend for the new hotshoe? I’ve always used an onboard Voicerecorder that are both cheap and has superb sound quality with a lot more options than your standard mic, but I’m think there might be som more fun alternatives with the new hotshoe?

4) Does antiflicker work with electronic shutter now?

5) one person has confirmed that using HSS in ES is possible, have any more of you also found that to work with any issues?

6) Do you know why it’s not possible to use faster than 1/8000s in Av?

You can kinda do that, using a custom CP profile that applies the LUT for you: https://cam.start.canon/en/C017/manual/html/UG-03_Shooting-2_0130.html
But that will (seemingly) bake in the LUT, so if you're not after a specific look, selecting a non-LOG CP would have the same effect. Transferring it to my phone using camera connect yielded a non-CLOG2 clip.

Lumix has added LUT support to their phone app, including rudimentary editing support. Let's hope Canon will do something like that as well, quickly sharing a CLOG2 video is not a thing yet.

But there is a big improvement in the R5II over the older (e.g. R8) bodies: it applies the LUT/View Assist during playback now. So if you hook your camera up to your TV using HDMI (using a normal cable, yay!) you get to see a 'normal' picture. I haven't tried that myself yet, though.

The vent holes are completely external, so they don't impact the weather sealing. If that sealing is better or worse than the original R5, we don't know.

Apart from the Canon one and the TASCAM adapter, there are no microphones that use the new hot shoe connection yet.
4) Does antiflicker work with electronic shutter now?
Yes, but not with pre-continuous shooting enabled. If you're using that, only HF anti flicker is available.
5) one person has confirmed that using HSS in ES is possible, have any more of you also found that to work with any issues?

6) Do you know why it’s not possible to use faster than 1/8000s in Av?
No idea on both, sorry.
