Canon to announce ‘major’ new firmware for the EOS R1 & EOS R5 Mark II ahead of CP+

You need to upgrade your R5 II to an R1, where the diopter dial must be pulled out to unlock it. Unfortunately, that’s a somewhat costly firmware upgrade.
I know firmware can't fix it.
But am I the only R5 II user getting mad at that f*****g dioptre adjustment whenever I put on gloves in cold weather?
Same issue for most R bodies.
Why is there no way to keep it locked unless using glue (that's what I do)?
Why not imitate the Leica SL series, for instance? You adjust, push the button back in, et voila!

When I first got the R1, I was frustrated with the dioptre adjustment for 10-15s. I thought it was brocken because it wouldn't turn!!! :). Hadn't read about this new feature. Was just thinking the whole time: "Oh, man. I'll have to send it in to get fixed!". But after a bit I tried pulling it up and voila! It is nice to have that functionality, though I rarely run into that as an issue with my cameras. It does happen occasionally, though. It is a simple enough adjustment, but if I were wearing thick gloves most of the time, I can see how it could get frustrating.

First, for the diopter problem, gaffer tape works for me. Remove and reapply fresh every once in a while to prevent adhesive build up. Maybe.

And my main request for a firmware update, now at least 20 years old: a simple button push to kick the camera into shooting a bracket and then another simple push to take it out of bracket mode. To change parameters of the bracket, hold the button down for two seconds, then one could change the number of bracket frames with one dial and the interval of the bracket with the other. The unused rate button would be the perfect choice for my use but allowing it with any assignable button would be perfect for all.

IMO, My Two Cents, My Bait and Click Moment. I'm hoping these updates are first an foremost, developed to take care of any and all photo capturing related issues and or improvements. I didn't buy these camera's expecting them to be C400's. hahahahahahah.

4k downsampled 60fps for the R5II? Yes it would get hot as hell, but why not at least give us the option. Especially since they have a cooling fan accessory.
And maybe pixel shift high res like in the R5. These modern Ai features are a joke.
- 4K downsampled 60fps for the R5II would be very welcome, however I do not expect the camera to get 'hot as hell'. Consider that the R5II can record 8K 30fps without overheating for 37min and even the much more demanding 8K 60fps for 18min (see dpreview.com) - all with temp. setting to 'high', which is far from 'hot as hell' (Note that the CF Express card can become quite hot, so be careful to let it cool before touching).
- Pixel shift high resolution mode like R5, but with motion blur detection and correction by, e.g. selecting one or some of the exposures to replace any area with motion blur.

If you don’t think it gets hot as hell then why do you suppose they left 4k60 off in the first place?
