We’re Still Waiting for New Firmware for the EOS R1 and EOS R5 Mark II

Could you please tell me which 3rd. party batteries you'd recommend?
As you may have read my post, I had similar discharging issues.
PS: Mine went through several cycles without any improvement. :)
I had similar issues in getting message to replace the battery on the R5 M2 despite that the battery was basically fully charged. Had it on two different canon LP-E6P batteries. I used then non-Canon Wasabi Power BTR-LP6P batteries and no issues anymore despite heavy usage every day for the last two weeks! Camera function is fully maintained as well.

My problem was different. The battery DID actually discharge quickly.

This might be helpful for some people: i had issues with the battery life on the R5 2, and i used 3 different OEM batterys. They would discharge very quickly while in use.
I bought 4 of the Neewer ones recommended by @CharlesB and THEY ARE SO MUCH BETTER!! Battery life after a Concert, 500 shots taken and some Video still is at 90%.

Stay away from the Canon batterys if you can, it's literally robbery for something that has obvious issues.

Hey so we chatted about this. I bought the recommend Neewer batteries, and you wouldnt believe how much better they are. I shot a full concert yesterday, and took some Videos too and still had 90% charge left. It's definitely a problem with the OEM batterys.
Same here! And I would have never bought non-OEM batteries before!
I'm hoping for a recall from Canon.
Thank you so much, Charles B!

I ordered my Neewer batteries on Monday and they arrived late Friday, because I couldn't get any OEM batteries and have been trying for 3 months. Thanks for the info @CharlesB.
You're all welcome! I hope they serve you well!

I just got 9 more yesterday and have them all charged today. I couldn't pass up on that amazing deal they had on their website for 30% off 3-packs! They come with chargers that charge 3 at a time. I bought the last ones but maybe they have more now. Worth a shot!

I'm always happy to help. ☺️

P.S - I know I went a little overboard with the batteries but after the bad experience, I couldn't help it!

A bit off topic: Petapixel has some quotes from an interview with Go Tokura, head of Canon’s imaging division: “Canon Has No Plans to Make a High-Resolution Version of Its Flagship R1”.
See: https://petapixel.com/2025/03/10/ca...a-high-resolution-version-of-its-flagship-r1/
I find that utterly unsurprising. Not sure why some forum members seemed convinced it would happen, but it seems clear that if there’s going to be an 80-100 MP sensor then it will be in a 5-series body.

I'd like to share some information I found regarding battery issues.

A Japanese user contacted Canon support and was told that overcharging by a third-party charger is likely the cause of the problem.

Additionally, another user commented that the problem stopped occurring when they used the battery until it was completely empty at room temperature and then charged it with the genuine charger.

Has anyone else experienced similar issues or found solutions?

Accusing someone else is definitely no way to solve a problem.
I've been using exclusively Canon chargers and batteries, and I'm certainly not the only one. My solution? Using Neewer brand 3rd. party batteries...
Some users are having real trouble with the R5 II/LP-E6P , saying it's the 3rd. party charger's fault doesn't help. It can be true in some cases, but the coming (?) firmware could bring a more credible answer.

Same here, I didn't even have third party chargers when the issue was happening, so that theory doesn't work. It's when I switched to third party that the problem resolved itself.

I really can't say what the issue is but it's on Canon's end, be it their chargers or batteries. When not using either and using the Neewer batteries and charger, I have no issues.
