Well with the next Canon announcement scheduled for late march, I wasn't really counting on the R63 hitting that Q1/early Q2 time window anymore.
At least no regret on not going on with my hypothetic plan to grab one while in Japan to get it cheap.
We'll have time to see the final spec sheet

The rumor is pretty solid on 24mp...

I am one who always wants more resolution, but I have to say that the difference between 24 and 30 is not that "differentiating"

It is kind of weird that the R6mkiii and Sonys a7mkV were both rumored to be released (or announced) in Q1. Now both companies seemed to have moved their announcement dates. I hope they don't play "chicken" and wait for the other one to make the first move. If so, maybe Nikon has to move in with a new offering to get things started

I believe the R7 was the first R camera with pre-capture, not the R6 II.

No....24mp is the Canon norm for full frame, 45mp is the exception.
Get used to it because the needs of video make 4K (and other) resolution slicing of a 24mp sensor much easier than other sensor resolutions.
We will have this 24mp standard for a long time to come.

For me the bigest upgrade will be the EVF resolution. All the other features are a bit meh....

If it's any consolation, the new 24 MP delivers better spatial resolution than the 30 MP sensor in the 5DIV and EOS R.

We’re told that Canon has a new flippy screen design that mimics recent Sony mirrorless cameras. It will flip out for the usual selfie rotation, as well as up and down without flipping it out.

If it means tilt and hinge like a9iii or Z8, I'd like it! It enables shooting from hip both in landscape and portrait oreintations.
