The first three words say it: "Way too soon". IMO the R5 Mk2 is quite perfect in terms of specifications. I could see some improvements, but I believe that a faster readout might cause a loss in low ISO dynamic range. Might be a case were there is no free lunch. We shall see, but I am in no rush to upgrade; really like the R5 Mk2 as a travel camera.

If 45MP stacked sensors are supposed to improve dynamic range and ISO performance, let’s see its without compromises.

Stacked sensors doesn't generally improve dynamic range or ISO performance. Historically, it is actual the exact opposite, though trade-off seems to be smaller now than it was for the early stacked sensors. But stacked sensors are primarily chosen to optimise the readout speed.

Besides that, I'm still dreaming about a "quad-pixel" design where each sub-pair has different sensibility. True HDR dynamic range in one single shot?! I have no idea if that is possible though

ISO is only marginally worse when you're above 6400, 12800 seems to be where the detail last holds up. How often are you up past 6400 to begin with? This is really a feeble argument. Invest in faster glass maybe? All of a sudden everyone is afraid of noise. I have no problem with noise on these cameras, they are far better than anything from the DSLR era. People just complain about everything today.

2. Automate the focus bracketing. The camera knows the lens, focal length, fstop. Would be great to define the front and rear focus points and then the camera determines how many shots are needed. Put each sequence into separate folders with a naming convention like “AFB0001”

3. More than 99 shots in the intervalometer, need a minimum of 3 digits, prefer 4 digits. Again, put every interval sequence in a separate folders like “INT0001”

4. Zebra stripes on the viewfinder for over exposed areas, prior to taking photo.

5. When processing of an image in camera, give the option of outputting a .dng file instead of .jpg

6. Time Bracketing. Useful when you want to shoot a series of photos to vary the motion blur. Example, 5 shots from 1/100 to 1/5

I don't know about anybody else, but I would like to have the option to set one of the back buttons to manual focus momentarily. I do wildlife photography and sometimes the autofocus likes to lock on a nearby branch, leaf, or whatever, but not the critter I want to capture. Time is of the essences when shooting wildlife. Using the switch on the lens, movement of the camera lens costs valuable time. With the recent update to the R5mkII, it has only made focusing worse. A quick access to manual focus would help me make an adjustment to the focus needed to get the sharp picture.

Yes in agreement with these and add the following; no particular order.

   • Simplify Bulb mode operation: currently, users must both select Bulb and enable it in a separate menu. This should be streamlined—selecting Bulb should activate it directly or offer a clearer, more intuitive process.
2. Image Quality Enhancements
   • Improve high ISO performance to reduce image noise.
   • Expand dynamic range to preserve more detail in highlights and shadows.
3. Bracketing Improvements
   • Allow slower shutter speeds during focus bracketing.
   • Enable exposure bracketing within focus bracketing mode to enhance creative flexibility.
4. Visibility & User Feedback
   • Add a live countdown timer during Bulb exposures and long exposure noise reduction to show the remaining time until completion.
   • Improve illumination of the top LCD screen for better visibility in low-light environments.
   • Provide an option to disable the self-timer indicator light (flashing) for discreet shooting, especially useful for night photography and wildlife.
   • Include illuminated buttons for easier operation in the dark.
5. Remote Control Options
   • Reinstate infrared (IR) remote support. IR remotes consume significantly less power than Bluetooth and offer a simpler, more reliable trigger method in many scenarios.
6. Battery Management
   • Introduce a built-in or optional sticker/indicator system for batteries, so users can easily identify charged vs. depleted ones—even with the battery cover on.

Screen. A1ii, A9iii, S1ii type screen that tilts and flips. The most annoying thing for me having a solid r3 and R5 with grip and having a flimsy screen sticking out to get the shot with a tilt

I would really like better noise at ISO6400 when I am doing astro work especially as Canon doesn't have a fast/ultra wide lens eg 14/1.8
Even for indoor shots >1/100s without flash can easily get to ISO6400+
Still using topaz denoise but would prefer better in-camera performance..

The intervalometer can have unlimited shots so not limited to 99. I use the same for my RP as well.
What I don't like is the time between shots on the intervalometer. There are clear gaps for star trail shooting which I don't get as the body can handle 1/4000s shutter speed. Been the same problem since my 7D!

The R5 can output HEIF which is far superior to jpg.

I shoot timelapse shots that go 20 or 30 seconds of video. This translates to 600 or 900 shots. Many times, it would be much easier for me to start it up and then leave it run. The R6 has this feature already. Of all the suggested features, this literally would be the easiest to implement

Try starting/stopping the R5C with it in video mode.
