Canon EOS R1 Spotted in the wild at the Monaco GP

The logical reaction would be for you to buy a Nikon plus your beloved Tamron 35-150, instead of complaining. This is at least what I would do if I were so dissatisfied with Canon's offer...
I did say I'd prefer an option that didn't involve switching brands.

Not sure where the 'beloved Tamron 35-150' reference came from...I certainly didn't mention it.

Oh, it's not the logical reasoning that makes me think some here take offence, it's the personal attacks and ridicule that often accompany such responses. Why would someone imply others here are dense, stupid, deluded, uneducated, whiny, incapable of thought, asinine (a favourite of yours it seems) etc, if not from a position of feeling offended, or some other negative emotion? Are the insults just for sport? They certainly don't add any intellectual weight or credibility to the opinions they're bundled with.
You may want to explore the correlation between ridiculous claims and ridicule. Personally, I'm of the opinion that the former deserves the latter. It all comes down to people being entitled to their own opinions but not to their own facts.

Well. Neuro is a very smart guy. That for dang sure. He works in a smart field I'd imagine isn't forgiving at all of mistakes. So part of this is projecting his internal self dialogue onto others. Hard to be happy in that environment. Constantly worrying he'll make an error and kill somebody. It's tough. It's hard to switch gears into normality. Eventually, everyone gets humbled. Usually those who need it most, whether they need it or not.

...because it might be true?

So cruelty for sake of sport. Got it
I think it's a stretch to call it cruelty.

I try to avoid doing it myself because I dislike conflict but I don't think it's always misplaced, nor is it necessarily worse than what it's responding to (which is often trolling).

They state ‘Preis auf Anfrage’ when you look at the details, so let’s hope that this is just a placeholder for the real price.
It is a common practice, the real price will be much lower as Canon have no intention to commit commercial suicide.
But it will be higher than in the USA, as usual...

I'm wondering if those countries have the vat factored in. Our sales tax isn't in the USA. It's added at the point of sale.
Yes, the 11.898€ includes 19% VAT (and you also get a free battery (of an unspecified type ;))). Without VAT the price would be 10.000 € (rounded up), so this is likely a placeholder price.

Yes, the VAT is factored in as it is required by (EU) law when selling to consumers.

@P-visie not sure if it just happens to be law in most/all EU/EEC countries, or it is a EU directive/regulation. Do you remember? In Denmark it's been law since "forever"

I do not know if it is a EU regulation. In the Netherlands it is required when mentioning prices for consumers since (at least) 1968.
