2.0.9 firmware update

I can't seem to get a clear understanding. For the new update, must you have the previous 2.0.8 before you download the new?

Hi

Assuming you're meaning the fw upgrade for 5D MK II, all Canon dSLR fw is cumulative and does not need a specific previous version.

This is what's written on the canon download page "Firmware Version 2.0.9 is for cameras with Firmware up to Version 2.0.8.　If the camera's firmware is already Version 2.0.9, it is not necessary to update the firmware". ??????

My last update was 2.0.7 ?????

Up to version 2.0.8, as in including 2.0.7 and 2.0.6, so updating from 2.0.7 is perfectly fine.

New firmware totally replaces the old firmware, it does not update portions of it as a software update in a computer might do.

This means that you can install a new firmware version over any previous version.
