600f/4 in a 600 AW backpack

I have a 600 F/4 lens and a Lowepro 600 AW backpack to lug it around. Does anyone else use that backpack, and if so do you bother putting the Canon lens cover over the lens when packing it? Or do folk think there is no need? So far, apart from a slight ring in the padded base it does not appear to have let the lens meet the cushion, but it would be tight fit to add the lens cover.

I have the Lens Trekker 600 AW II for my EF 600/4 II. I always have the Canon lens cover over the reversed hood, don’t find it to affect the fit (which isn’t tight, IMO, even with the TC, adapter and R1/3).
