Any thing Shot with a 5ds/r

This is a group of Tarangire elephants on their morning walk to the river. These were a part of a very large group totalling more than 200 elephants. Large impressive animals, who move so quietly.

People should open that shot to see it in full glory. Shot also shows how the 5DS/R's immense cropping ability can be used very creatively.

Cannot wait to take the 5DS/R on safari myself. To me the 5DS/R and a 1DxII (when speed needed) would currently be the best camera combination on the planet for wildgame shooting.

I tend to agree. The 5DSR is a fantastic camera and with the recent drop in prices, it is very good value for money. However, from a flexibility point of view, it might be that the 5DIV will be a preferred choice for many. It has less resolution (but still plenty), better high ISO performance, higher frame rate, a notch more DR and full AF at f/8.0. However, I have been very happy with combining the 5DSR with both the 1DX and 1DX-II.

This was the deciding factor for me buying in the used market I was able to get a 5Ds with only 8000 shutter actuations for $3000 CDN (about $2200 US). That's essentially half price compared to a 5DIV plus tax. This will be my body for a long time.

To those who own a 5DS/R in addition to a 5DIV, how often do you use the 5DS/R?

Just like I read a lot of "I don't use my 5D3 anymore since I got the 5DS" comments over the years, I've been reading a lot of "I don't use my 5DS anymore since I got the 5DIV" comments recently.

I just sold my beloved 5DIII, so I will be ordering the 5DS or the 5DIV by Monday. I need to decide between these two bodies rather quickly :)

Use the 5DS/R for the 90%. Can shoot anything the 5DIII could - so will have to be special to choose the 5DIV and compromise on the MPIX.

I have been very fond of the 5DSR. When I bought it, it was more out of curiosity than need and I had very low expectations on all areas but resolution. However, after getting it, I was very impressed and I used it for as much as possible. The 1DX got a lot less use as a consequence of this, even on birds and wildlife. Whenever I could manage without the speed of the 1DX, I used the 5DSR. I then got the 1DX-II, which is a significant upgrade to the 1DX and then the 5DSR got less use, but still quite a lot.

i then got the 5DIV, which is an improvement in all key areas of importance to me, except resolution. AF is improved, fps is improved, resolution is less than the 5DSR, but still very good. On top of that, DR is improved, high ISO is improved and noise performance is very good. So then the 5DSR started collecting dust.

A couple of weeks back I also added the Hasselblad H6D 100c, so now the 5DSR is up for sale.

I have the 5DSR and the 5DIV. I still use the my 5DSR - mostly for land/cityscapes. 5DIV for everything else. My use with the 5DSR is around 20%.

As a replacement for a 5DIII, I would go for the 5DIV - it's a fantastic all round camera. 5DSR have fantastic IQ, but performs purely in low light situations IMO.

Does anyone know why I can't attach images to this thread?

No, but I just tried and can't either, so this is a hiccup of some sort.

Jack

This hiccup continues and applies to several threads, at least.

There is a new gallery system. Info in this thread..

I don't understand. How do we post images??

Add the image/s to the gallery (new addition to the menu bar between My Messages and Members). The gallery provides a choice of 3 linking BB codes to copy and paste into whichever thread you want to post the image - full size, medium or thumbnail size. It also put a CR watermark on your image.

Is there a gallery for each topic? What about direct links to Flickr? Why did it need to change?
