Butterflies, Moths and Assorted Insects...

The second third of the photos I prepared for posting (the third one may come tomorrow - may be, I have full mouth already:ROFLMAO:). The last species I wouldn't include without the second photo.
We all know the AF speed of 105mm macro lenses and we know it's a pure luck - but what a luck! BTW I'll send the NEF file to anyone who is interested!

And last series from that folder. I'm still ignoring species that are not that interesting (for me off course!) or colorful! Not much of different bugs: my daughter just decided that she has a favorites and took ~hundreds of photos for each species: different angles, magnification and so on...! The result is poor me trying to figure out the differences and what is better:sick:

It's more work, but this is the best way to ensure she can produce the best photos with your help. Why isn't she choosing the photos herself?

She will - that's the irony! I PP the shots but finally she has the upper hand :)!
Well, anyway she is the author! Whatever - I'm always happy when she takes her camera - makes me feel like a member of a team!

I'm still in the middle of all the photos my daughter took in the summer... We were two days with a friend of mine who is lepidopterist (professional) and in the night he started his UV lamp for moths. I ignored what was close to his lamp but my daughter obviously didn't. Both are common species but I can't recall the name of the second one. First one is Lymantria dispar. The second one is a crop of the original, rotated 90 degree right and 180 right - I found them interesting on that background (?:)).

I probably will release her photos in small portions - in order to have something for the winter season when most of the folks here have no insects around. Just to keep the flame burning in this threat:)

Speckled Wood Butterfly at near mfd on the R7+RF 100-400. I focus stacked 4 shots to get the wings and body sharp at this distance. I have to say that the R7+RF 100-400 is my favourite for close ups where you don't want to scare flighty insects.
