Macro Extension Tubes

Hi I have just started my macro season this year and I had been looking forward to it But I am getting the error 70 message and the Camera shuts down. every time I put The extension tubes on on my R5 mk2 and the RF 1002.8 they are kenco brand as canon do not do any for the rf lenses is there a chance these will be on the lens list to be coming out at I need them for small macro work ? or is their a way around my problem ?

Using the Kendo EF extension tube on my R5 with various lenses has caused an intermittent camera lock up. I purchased a used Canon brand EF 25mm extension tube and have not had the issue reoccur.

Hi, Instead of using extension tubes, I would suggest you try somewhere, or buy Raynox or Nisi close-up lenses if you want shoot more smaller photos.

If the extension tubes are older you may want to gently swab the contacts with a Q-tip and some rubbing alcohol.

On the other hand, diopters are much more effective than extension tubes when used on longer focal lengths. Tubes work better on wide angle lenses, so +1 for diopter instead of extension tubes in your particular use case. On top of that, diopters are quicker to mount and remove.
I use the Raynox DCR250 on my RF100-400 and EF100L, where it produces 3x life-size images on the former and 2x on the latter, so with the RF100L you should be getting something between those two. The Raynox is also very well controlled in terms of CA.
