Show your Bird Portraits

For me this weekend went pretty wrong: yesterday I checked a beach where I usually see a lot of sea birds flying over the water. It was empty! Nothing!!!
Today (Sunday) I got just these photos!
That par of Common Waxbills didn't know they will get a shower in addition to the bathtub! I got also a White Tern and shortly after that the fore-mentioned showers! Got "little bit" wet and went back home (to dry with a beer in my hand :p)!

Spending a couple of days in Boston MA area visiting my son. Not expecting much birding so brought just the R5ii + RF 100-400mm. However, his backyard has proven to be quite a haven, and I really needed the RF 200-800mm for small birds. Even so, with PS and Topaz complementing DxO PL6, I got some shots for the record. First, a Blackcapped Chickadee that flew in for a second and perched just over a metre in front of me at MFD and I had to zoom out.

It took it a real effort to track down this Ruby Crowned Kinglet in my son's garden. The tiny bird, very similar to our Goldcrest was very elusive and would not keep still. The ruby crown seems to change colour as a display feature, like our Goldcrest again.6L8A6018-DxO_Ruby_crowned_kinglet_ruby_crown_shaut.jpg6L8A6125-DxO_Ruby-crowned_kinglet.jpg6L8A6136-DxO_Ruby-crowned_kinglet.jpg6L8A6115-DxO_Ruby_crowned_kinglet-0.7-ls-topaz-sharpen.jpeg

And flying overhead the garden, a Cooper's Hawk on the first morning. And a pretty crappy shot of a Turkey Vulture (US Buzzard) the next day. All with R5ii + RF 100-400mm. So far, more birds in the garden than in the local reserves.

The last ones from our trip. A Downy Woodpecker by my wife with the RF 100-400mm on the R7, and from me with the 100-400mm on the R5ii an Eastern Bluebird, a Whitebreasted Nuthatch and a final Tufted Titmouse.3R3A2176-DxO_Downy_Woodpecker.jpg6L8A6404-DxO_Eastern_Bluebird.jpg6L8A6580-DxO_whitebreasted_Nuthatch.jpg6L8A6590-DxO_whitebreasted_Nuthatch.jpg6L8A6695-DxO_tufted_Titmouse.jpg
