Show your Bird Portraits

After spending the past couple weeks sidelined I was able to get out for a while today and wander. It was a great day to get out.

It's always great day to get out - even without the birds! But with some birds it is by far more content - in my own oppinion!

Yesterday - macro lens, today - my 500mm but no interesting birds! In my frustration I just took this shot from my lanai (once I got home )!

Moodily lit Great Blue Heron at Huntley Meadows, Alexandria, Virginia. Taken just at sunrise with the morning fog starting to lift.

Both photos with an R5 Mark II, 100-500 mm. Like a dummy I had the camera set up for birds in flight, and could have gotten a better exposure on these two.

Picture one: Zoom at 500 mm, 1/2500 at f/7.1, ISO 8000.
Picture two: Zoom at 472 mm, 1/2500 at f/7.1, ISO 3200.

A bit behind on post as we've had good weather both in the mountains and on the coast over the last couple of weeks.

A juvenile Green-tailed Towhee, the brightest of the three that stuck around for a couple of weeks.
