Show your Bird Portraits

I will do some comparisons and tests of the R5 against the R1 in terms of resolution.

But, battery charged up this morning. The first few photos of birds at my feeder.

R1 RF 200-800

The first is cropped vertically. The others are my typical 1/9th crop that I often have to use at my feeder.

Forget to include this article from BBC. Tried to figure out who is Alan there but it seems he is not participating at the party ;)? I'm not sure such a meeting could happen in any other country :)!

The dutch might surprise you;). A few years ago a rare bird was in someone’s back garden. The owners of the house collected a small entrance fee. And probably had to spend that revenue on renovating their front garden which was trampled by the numerous birding enthousiasts.

In Kowloon, caught between successive typhoons, with a brief respite of an hour or two of sunshine from the rain after yesterday's afternoon session at the conference where I managed to get out for a few minutes with RF 100-400 on the R5ii. A Spotted Dove, a Crested Mynah and a Red-ventedwhiskered Bulbul. I really wanted the Bulbul and was over the moon when I saw one next to the hotel.

After a very long time that seemed like eons of high fog, cloudy skies and simply crappy light, the weather was finally nice again, and I had fun taking photos in this autumn of 2024.
And as some kind of reward and compensation, one of my beloved kingfishers gave me the chance to watch it for almost 10 min.
Unfortunately, it was very far away and I didn't dare getting any closer. But I could watch it diving for fish, three times. But no chance to catch that properly.
R6m2, 100-500L+ext.@700mm, cropped down to 1800x1200.
