I totally agree with you.
And now if we knew what that snails are actually "thinking" doing that... because all of this are our human's assumptions!
Never mind - we ARE the species that can explain everything :unsure: -sooner or later, unfortunately bunch of things are coming more later than sooner!

:LOL::ROFLMAO: They don't do it! Never! The empty houses you may find are from a dead snails! If you were tricked by the angle of the house - it's rushing :)LOL:) on nearly vertical wall of stone and the angle is result of gravitation!

Also ~7cm long, the same species. These are small - the biggest one that I have seen on Hawaii was about 20-21 cm long (the shell only!). I hate them: back in the time these were the first animals around that were forbidden to touch for my daughter (as well as any land snail here): it carries the nematode Angiostrongylus cantonensis! You can get infected even from eating a lettuce with traces of their slime!

Wow! What a giant. Great sharpness and detail of shell, but esp. the body
