The 1 stars are always fun to read. I liked the battery one, that was a well reported topic.

Though I do think there is a lot of firmware work to do. Which disappoints me. It seems Canon needs to address their software QC.

Are you sure that the statements on Canon Japan's website about availability delays refer to the entire global market? Or could they only refer to Japan? Given the weakness of the yen right now, sending the available stock out of Japan makes sense.

I'm not sure Canon would continue to have the information published if there wasn't some truth to it.

They say it's for "new orders", so perhaps what is considered the current production run was unaffected.

Besides B&H, most retailers are saying the same thing. They can't get any. A store I know with 300+ preorders on their list, got 50 cameras last week. They have no idea when the next allocation will come.

Well the random black screen bug is extremely annoying, I can relate to the reviews a little.
But anyone rating the camera low because of the battery situation, is just either extremely stupid, or didn't bother to read any information before buying. Or both.

The notices are global, not regional.

There are 200-800s in stock in lots of places now. This was last week.

"Released in limited quantity" just means they're filling preorders, which still exist for the 200-800.



B&H isn't really a barometer, they get the most preorders obviously, but with that, the most cancellations, non-payments.. and all of that. They do get preferred allocation based on those numbers at times.

Other US retailers are getting nowhere near their ordered quantity.

Europe gets nothing while it’s in stock every other day at BH. Seems like Canon didn’t know how to ship anything elsewhere.

I dont really know. I just went by what this site said about that. Besides it does not make much sense that the camera would not be available only in Japan.

Lets see the situation after a month or so to see where this stands.

Canon USA shows the camera in stock too. Batteries are showing up all over. Samy\'sCamera in southern California has a limit of 6 batteries per customer.

Lots of other stores I find by going to Canon USA, clicking on the camera and scrolling down to accessories, selecting LP-E6P then clicking on \"Where to buy.\" on the right side shows several stores across the USA that should have them in stock with links. What a long sentence.

If they sell to the US market (or another market with a relatively stronger currency), the buyer is effectively paying more for the same item. So, it makes plenty of sense for Canon to redistribute limited stock to countries where they’ll make more profit.

So, why isn't the UK being flooded with them? The list price of the R5ii converts to $5988 or before tax $4990.
