I just watched this video. Hard to tell IQ as the shoot was not in full sun and heavy fog was encountered (i.e. limitations of an f9 lens). However, in the comments, Phil states that the AF and eye detection on this lens using an R6 works just as well as it does on the 100-500. That's encouraging. Using an R5 and ISO, I know what I can and can't get away with.

I've pre-ordered from Adorama but I was extra slow... 4 days after the announcement
Adorama told me there were 130+ people in front of me in the queue for it.
Obviously some of them will have pre-ordered in multiple shops and may drop...
But today Adorama sent me the dreaded "your item is backordered" email, which is the official confirmation that I have missed the first batch. Not that I had any illusion of the contrary...

Combined with the post by @Dragon that he ordered 30 minutes in and is not getting a copy, that suggests the US allocation of the 200-800 may have been short.

I agree. The allocation appears to have been very small. I ordered from Hunts in Melrose MA and they are a relatively large retailer.

It is very strange. Hunts is a large retailer in New England. I am still waiting on my copy of the RF 10-20 mm f4 and I was the second person on their order list. Hopefully production picks up when the R5 Mk2 is announced. I do not do a lot of photography over winter so will be very content if I have the lenses by March-April 2024.

The store in Melrose is their flagship store and I would assume that the flagship store would be the first to receive a copy. With that said, my assumption could easily be incorrect.

HI @EricN I also like supporting my local retailer as well and normally they always get 1-2 copies the day of the announcement. However, this does not appear to be the case with the 200-800 mm. Maybe they will get a copy tomorrow am?
