Is it because I own Canon cameras and advertisers pay for algorithms that target Canon owners?

My newsfeed on Microsoft, Apple, and android devices never shows gloomy or sky falling news about other brands. It is ridiculous.

I suspect it's because Canon has been the number 1 for a looooooong time. Also, more subjectively, places where you can see cameras, e.g. Youtube and Instagram, there aren't a lot of Canon cameras visible. At the EW25 tradeshow this month the hired photo/videographers where mostly using Sony, all the Nikons were in the hands of over-50-in-nice-suit people, I spotted a single Canon during student day, a 200D.

I find it hard to combine my observations (which are, by definition, anecdotal) with all the sales data. So having an 'algorithm' tilting the scales the wrong way isn't helpful :)

I agree, bashing the marketleader gets more clicks and views than bashing number 2 or number 3. Canon not being very clear about roadmaps or opening up the RF mount for fullframe makes that the “experts” do not have to spend much energy finding a subject for their next post or video.

I think it is a filter thing. Over the years I've had Nikon and Sony full set-ups. Started with Canon and now back with Canon and no plans to change again. I always find what brand you have you do get the negatives....'5 reasons not to get the Nikon bla' or 'Stop, watch this before you buy a Sony bla'. In all honestly you won't get a bad camera from these brands, it's what resonates with you most that should dictate your loyalty and for me this has always been Canon. The R5 gives me that buzz the original 5D did and then some! And the red ring of that L series lens....
