BIRD IN FLIGHT ONLY -- share your BIF photos here

Today is my first day back from my most recent work trip where I tacked on a vacation to Sicily. I made it a goal to photograph flamingos, something I have never seen outside of a zoo. I found out there was a breeding colony just north of Siricusa in Priolo Salt Pans Nature Reserve. We were there for only about 90 minutes as this was added on to the day we toured Siracusa and rains were coming. We only hit one blind, but there are several.

I have many more to process, but let's just say, I'd happily go back and spend more time.

One of the first pics I looked at today:

It's the V3 (the future Canon V?) - tagged in the way they often do raptors. And, if you think that is bad, just look at this Condor with a radio over the Andes (5DSR + EF 100-400mm ii + 1.4xTC).

This is GPS transmitter. The "tags" on the Harrier are more strange (why two, one would do the same work if it's a transmitter?).
Yep. The first. We'll see how tonight's dreams are.
I'm not going to sleep with a helmet on my head:unsure:. But may be Allan should go next time there in full tactical ;)!

Today’s one. Common Kestrel flight above our home. Didn’t expect good results because of cloudy weather, but it came quite well with tweaking and enhancing  I haven’t used the 90D for a long time, forgot how good the camera is too.

Canon 90 D + Sigma 150-600
600mm f/6.3

I managed to get some shots yesterday with the RF 200-800mm before it breaks in two. Norfolk coast, great light but quite cold. Brent Goose, Curlew and Egyptian Goose.

My favorite is the Eurasian Curlew! I hope you will find the Whimbrel too: to complete the curlews that one can see in England!
Nice shots and RF 200-800 is obviously very good lens in terms of optics but stop challenging the Devil...

I did get one 4 years ago at the same location, using the R5 and the 100-500mm at 1000mm with the 2xTC. It's a tiny image, but a record of it. The 2xTC works well with lens, and I prefer it to the 1.4xTC.

I haven't seen a Whimbrell missing the crown-stripes! The shortish bill could be result of the angle, Curlews sometimes are also showing paler eyebrow and not so diffuse eye-strip... I wish you had more photos...

I think as usual you are right. I tend to keep only one photo in order to keep storage down, and as usual I binned all the others.

I do the same except for difficult to ID birds. For such a birds I think twice before deleting (got some bad experience time ago ). And now the external storage is relatively cheap...

I am through the first cut of my flamingo pictures. Taken at the Priolo Salt Pans Nature Reserve. You'll see some significant industry behind the preserve. I saw two sets of Flamingos in flight, the first was just two passing by, the second was a Flamboyance relocating. A great sight.

R5 and EF 100-400 II
