So do I. Especially the rumored extender would be highly appreciated by my 100-300 2.8Lots of discussion about the possible new Tilt/Shift lenses. I am satisfied with my TS-E 24mm II. However, I hope for some more information about the RF 200-500 f/4 (size, weight, etc.) and the new extender.
I have used the A7RV along side the Canon R5 with pretty comparable results from both. I do the like extra pixels to crop and how reliable the camera is (and I just got the new Sigma 500mm to go with it for a relatively light telephoto setup). I have sold off the R5 with hope that the R5 II will be more stable than the R5 as that was really my only complaint. If it is then I will keep both systems for a few more years since I still have many EF lenses that I love to use.The Olympics starts on Friday 26th July. I fully expect advertising boards around the stadia to be shouting about the R5 MkII. So, Wednesday 24th???
Over the weekend, I had an extended fondle with a Sony A7rV at a camera show. The Sony was available at a greatly discounted price and I was very, very tempted... If the retailer supporting the show had had a Sigma MC11 in stock to try my EF lenses with it, then the wait for my DSLR replacement would have been over.
In other news, one of the photographers at the Barcelona Grands Prix was using a integrated grip bodied Canon (and an FD lens) without any markings on it. It was difficult to determine at HD broadcast quality whether it was the R1 - I couldn't see the little indicator on the left shoulder of the prism, but why would an R3 be disguised? R3 Mk II?
Yes it is, been wined and dined in Berlin, Antwerpen, Cambridge - Oh good old days and it had nothing to do with camerasI guess it's a strategy used across all industries.
I have been using it for 19 years, that's how I know it sucks. You can't even use a grid, outdoor, without sticking a softbox next to model's face, let alone an optical snoot. How about HSS? I use it all the time with Flash. It works much better than I expected.
Reuters Video Group went Sony and in fact Reuters had already been using Sony video. "Sony’s Media Backbone Hive is already in use at Reuters as its main multi-platform news production system."Reuters went Sony, according to TDP...
Neither Canon nor Nikon are for sale. Both companies are profitable.No. It is more likely that Canon is going to be bought by Apple! That is the position Canon was never in historically (I e., being taken over by some other company)
Same here. I saw the same thing. Glad I wasn't just imagining it out of wishful thinkingIn other news, one of the photographers at the Barcelona Grands Prix was using a integrated grip bodied Canon (and an FD lens) without any markings on it. I would have thought a brand new body will be less stable for a while, before bugs are ironed out.I have sold off the R5 with hope that the R5 II will be more stable than the R5 as that was really my only complaint.
Agreed, especially if it will have a new sensor, AF and chipset.I would have thought a brand new body will be less stable for a while, before bugs are ironed out.

To also be fair, the R5 was never "unusable" just not quite reliable enough as it would freeze often enough when I needed to capture a moment that I didn't use it when I really couldn't miss the shot. I have been using Canon gear for nearly 25 years and this is the only camera from them that would freeze often enough that it affected my work, and I have a feeling it will not happen again with the next R5 as I haven't heard of any issues with any mirrorless cameras from Canon since the R5. Even with a new sensor I'm hoping it will be stable and fun to use.Agreed, especially if it will have a new sensor, AF and chipset.
To be fair, my R5 has been plagued by random freezes for the longest time (fixed now with the latest firmware, fingers crossed), but never to a point of being unusable.
Oh yes, these were golden years for me too. When it comes to meal and wine quality, Citroen was ahead of everybody. I remember a wonderful tournedos and a Bordeaux...Yes it is, been wined and dined in Berlin, Antwerpen, Cambridge - Oh good old days and it had nothing to do with cameras![]()
Broadcast video has been dominated by Sony for many years, in terms of cameras. Those cameras are most frequently used with Canon box lenses.Reuters Video Group went Sony and in fact Reuters had already been using Sony video.
I’ve never had any issues with my R5 but perhaps my use case scenarios are different. I primarily shoot portrait and product photosTo also be fair, the R5 was never "unusable" just not quite reliable enough as it would freeze often enough when I needed to capture a moment that I didn't use it when I really couldn't miss the shot. As a side note I went back to the 5DS just for fun on a shoot and even though it is still a good tool and the image quality is still ok up to 1600 ISO, the capabilities of the latest mirrorless cameras from all the big three really do make that camera feel ancient when it comes to focus tracking. I really do hope the R5 has a stacked sensor as fast silent shooting is one of that last things I would like to have (at a price point I can afford). R5 and A7RV are really not usable in fully electronic shutter for any moving subjects.
I thought the R1 is rumored to have a flash sync speed of 1/1250. I’m not in the market for an R1 but I’m looking to possibly upgrade to the R52 and if it also has a flash sync of 1/1250 then it’s a no brainer. Otherwise I could hold off and keep using my R5 as it still is fine for portraiture and product photography which is my main work. All I need is a sync speed faster than 1/500th sec. Any Canon camera that has it, I am buying. I don\'t need global shutter, I do need something faster with flash. Whenever it comes out, count me in.
That was debunked (it was in a rumored spec list that was posted on by Adorama on their R1 page then pulled down). Current rumor is 24 MP, 2 ms readout = 1/500 s max sync. But that's still just a rumor.I thought the R1 is rumored to have a flash sync speed of 1/1250.

When the time comes, is it better to preorder through my local shop or direct on the canon website?Well, my gear fund is sitting and waiting for preorders to go live. So make with the announcements, already!
