Clearly that means the R1 is not selling well. For anyone that cares
Based on our small sample size of preorders, the R52 vs R1... the ratio was 5 to 1 for the former.

Yes, a total flop. Did you mention that Canon is Doomed™?Clearly that means the R1 is not selling well.![]()
It certainly appears that they have.On paper the camera looks overpriced in this market unless Canon has been able to do something really special with AF performance that sets it apart from Nikon and Sony.
They spun a report on Canon gaining mirrorless market share into a story about Canon drastically losing overall market share.Wish you were right and trolls are doomed but trolls have “alternative facts”.
Apple can pull that off. That’s a very dangerous business strategy in competitive markets.
I can't speak for other regions but unless an item is on "back-order", you will get it pretty quickly through Canon USA.When I purchased my R5 I did the pre-order within seconds of the announcement and received the camera ina few weeks. When I bought my R3 I wasn’t quite as quick so I ordered it through Canon and received it much quicker than expected, like 3 or 4 weeks.
My thought was that since Canon and the dealers were both asking the same price, Canon would make more profit selling directly so it was in their economic interest to sell as many as possible as opposed to through dealers.
I love mine.kill the Speedlight EL-5
I like the EL-5 as well, though one is enough since I have a set of four 600EX-RT flashes that all still work fine.I love mine.

"Is this the end for Canon".
Bad news for me I guess. I was planning to go down to my camera shop on release day and pick one up out of the dumpster. There's a clear disconnect between forum-dwelling 'experts' and people who actually buy cameras. If the forum-dwellers were right, Canon would have abandoned their camera lines years ago, instead of continuing to dominate the market.
Meanwhile, Sony is selling millions of A9 III.Clearly that means the R1 is not selling well.![]()
Yes, and what makes it even worse is that they know they made a mistake, as @neuroanatomist pointed out here, comparing mirrorless 2023 with total ILC marketshare, i.e. comparing apples with oranges and coming up with big lemon.and then there's this kind of investigate journalism aka.. steaming unadulterated bull turds.
Right!Apple can pull that off.
Apple folks are not really looking at products from other brands.
Actually, not quite! Our parent company simply goes direct to Canon and puts in a 100 DSLRs at a time purchase order and Canon says "When do you need them?"I would hope for first come first serve - I know I saw a hold on the full value of the camera when I ordered, so they're definitely making sure I'm going to pay
Yes... And he stuck his tongue out at me.Did you get the quintessential shot of the cats sitting on their tails to keep their paws warm?
Not true, I ordered mine in January. B&H expected a shipment in August but got one earlier and I get my 200-800 today, almost 3 weeks ealier than expected
I'm pretty suspicious of this. The 35mm 1.4 VC is available in most places. So are most bits of gear when the notice is given.
