I Shot the Sheriff, but I Did Not Shoot the Deputy
I agree! You’ve asked this question a dozen times or more. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is one definition of insanity.

Don’t go to bed and stay up until 3am.SERIOUSLY? That means those of us on the left coast will have to get up at 3:00AM!!!
Nah, 25%VAT. But if you don't live in Denmark, you can get the VAT back on export.Lol yeah, 24% VAT.
WIth the VAT money I can literally buy a 2 way trip ticket to Japan and get it there tax free.
Why wait? I already own two Rode mics and a Canon. The Canon has the worst sound quality. No, There won't be a new shotgun mic. Just wait for RODE or whoever....... If you care about sound quality so much, there are a billion mics out there.
Most of us on the West Coast are up beyond 3am most nights anyway, LOLSERIOUSLY? That means those of us on the left coast will have to get up at 3:00AM!!!
R5ii yes, R1 noSo do we think both the R1 and R5 will open orders on the 17th?

They let Tascam make an XLR mic adapter for the multifunction shoe.Or do you think that Canon will allow RØDE or Sennheiser to release hotshoe mics for Canon cameras?
Pre-order might be a bit over stated. I have been a loyal and frequent customer at my local establishment for over a decade. When I want a new camera or lens I let them know months in advance and they place me on a "wish list" and once the camera is officially announced they order it for me. Money does not change hands until I pick up the camera / lens in person. I am very fortunate to live in a city with a major camera store.Well, @john1970 placed a preorder like that for both the R1 and R5II with his local US dealer months ago.
Not at all. It will be available on YouTube at your normal awakening time. This is not breaking news that you need to know at 0300 PDT.SERIOUSLY? That means those of us on the left coast will have to get up at 3:00AM!!!
The point wasn't about information, it was about placing a preorder with the NY-based retailers (B&H, Adorama). For example, pre-orders for the R3 went live at 6 AM EDT. Preorders placed at B&H before about 8:30 AM EDT were filled from the first batch they received (I ordered at 6:45a and got my R3 the day after Thanksgiving). Orders placed after about 8:30 AM EDT were not filled for a few months (the following February, IIRC).Not at all. It will be available on YouTube at your normal awakening time. This is not breaking news that you need to know at 0300 PDT.
Canon is slower to supply my local dealer than I can get elsewhere.Pre-order might be a bit over stated. I have been a loyal and frequent customer at my local establishment for over a decade. as do I, I find it quite annoying watching youtubers shove their preorder links in my face all the time, like I'm going to buy it online rather then my local camera store. Just so they can double dip into my money for doing absolutely nothing.Pre-order might be a bit over stated. I have been a loyal and frequent customer at my local establishment for over a decade. well they do breathlessly bring us extended "detail" about every single rumor that might be rattling aroundfor doing absolutely nothing.
If I didn't get the point it is because I'm not obsessed with being the first to get the new model. I'll be in NYC in the autumn and I'll have a look at the new models then. If the R5 Mk II has significant improvements over the R5 for my purposes, I'll consider it.The point wasn't about information, it was about placing a preorder with the NY-based retailers...
They do in Australia, cough cough CameraproThey wouldn't be allowed to take money per Canon rules (though some dealers still do).
