Canon EOS R5 Mark II unconfirmed specifications

The R5 has raw light video for 30/24fps modes. There is also IPB light for a bunch of lower resolution modes
For raw light the bit rate goes from 2600Mbps down to 1700Mbps but only one option.

The cinema bodies/R5C then have alternative compression rates which I guess the initial poster was asking for.
Perhaps they weren't aware of the firmware update when it was added to the R5.
I think that is what I was getting at. My understanding is that the cinema versions of the raw compression codecs were not added to the R5 and are unlikely to be added to the R5II.

Canon RAW Light and Cinema RAW Light are different.
The R5 has Canon RAW Light.
The R5 C has Cinema RAW Light plus a whole bunch of other codecs that you mentioned.
I have both cameras.
The images are different enough that I do not think having identical codecs would make matching them up much easier.

  • No blackout during continuous shooting - Yes please!!
  • A better implemented pixel-shift high resolution mode (no details) - I'll take it if it's there
  • “Some” illumination with the buttons - I'll take it.
  • LCD resolution more than doubled - I'll take it.
  • Focus sensitivity of -8EV - Yes please!!
  • Increased battery performance (don't expect a quantum leap here) - Yes please!!
  • Maximum Electronic Shutter Speed “beyond” 1/8000s - Yes please!!
  • Dynamic range claim of 16 stops (claimed vs real world can differ) - I'll take it.
  • Full Size HDMI Port - I'll take it.
  • New “firsts” for Canon in AF algorithms (I'm sure the EOS R1 would also have those firsts and more) - Yes please!!
  • Slightly heavier body (Probably not noticeable) - I'll take it for the above improvements.
