Why shouldn't they?It could be a new version of the Digic X with faster clock speeds and more cores, but Canon would never let us know such info nor should they.

Based on Richard's images, differences are minor. The R1 will be about 100.8 mm in height – 3.3 mm taller than the R3. The R1 is also about 1.5 mm wider. If someone could compare the exact difference in height of the R3 and R1 it would be greatly appreciated. I find the R3 compact size and low weight a huge advantage. R1 appears a bit taller.
Interesting hypothesis. Could also just represent the Action Priority AF, which might be represented like that in the VF. But I'd sure like QPAF or equivalent. Is it me or do the red animated triangles that hover & jump over the big EOS R1 letters in the announcement teaser hint at QPAF?
Yeah...the teaser info is not inspiring me to preorder. 'Action Priority' AF and better subject tracking are nice in theory, but for my current needs the R3 has no trouble tracking subjects. Better in-camera NR is something I neither need nor want. The statement, "...enables large volumes of data to be processed at high speeds," offers some hope but it depends on how those larger volumes of data are generated. The R3 can shoot 30 fps at 14-bits, with a RAW burst close to 200 fps. For me, 30 fps is more than enough (and too much in many cases).Have to admit....a bit anticlimactic of an announcement.

Why do you need a formal release schedule? Present Canon unusable? By my reckoning, the R1 will be released when it's released. Not exactly, inspiring confidence for a formal release schedule.
I’m still hoping for a contrast and image based fine-tuning at the last step of the AF process. That would avoid the ‘focusses on on the grass next to the eyes’ issues we’ve been experiencing.[...] Most attractive would be a techincal solution to the AF problems shared by most or all MILCs – lack of ability to detect horizontal lines (some manufacturers can, but not Canon) and inability to achieve focus lock starting from extreme defocus.
Yeah but it will probably be used only on the R1 while the digic X was used on 1Dx mk3 annd after that it was introduced in the R5 and R6.Like the ‘Digic Accelerator’ mentioned in the press release?
Thank you Richard, greatly appreciated.![]()
The Canon EOS R1, a flagship re-invented. Lots of subtle differences compared to the EOS R3
The details are scant right now but between the rumors and what seems to have been confirmed and what we can see from the EOS R1 objectively, we can probably mawww.canonrumors.com
yes it's taller and wider. If I had to guess 15mm taller and 10mm wider.
but I haven't scaled up the images to 1:1 and actually measured them. I may do that tomorrow in the linked document. it's a ongoing live document and there's more I'm going to add to it tomorrow and over the weekend including a comparison against the 1DX.
Have to admit....a bit anticlimactic of an announcement.

Great pick-up Neuro! It says 30 MP FF stacked dual gain. Somehow, I doubt they were supposed to post that.

It is fairly useless information. Why shouldn't they?
Almost sounds like the (perhaps ex-) Adorama person asked an AI program to list the specs of the R1, it scraped the internet and produced an answer without mentioning the word 'rumour", and they just stuck it up on their site! The Adorama specs pretty much match this word for word.

Canon EOS R1 Specifications [CR2]
There has been recent talk around the web about Canon EOS R1 specifications, and we have been working to verify the information before posting them. It turns ouwww.canonrumors.com
Did anyone else get the impression that this "video" that uses a single still image and embellishes it with some text and smoke effects seemed like a poor, rushed production? My first impression was that I'd be rick rolled, and I needed to find the real Canon link. I've been wrong before, trying to read meaning into Canon bad creative choices. (I was the guy who was 100 percent sure the R5 wouldn't come out because the body pictured in the rumor post had 4 different fonts on it, and mixed serifs; so don't go by me). But this was poor.

These ’specs’ are no longer on their site.placeholder specs but yeah they could have just put "something" in the fields based upon conjecture and forgot to turn off the field display
