Had the wrong lens with me on returning to UK and first walk - RF 200-800mm. It still worked for a Ruddy Darter perched far away and then for one flying closer by.

Managed to get some banded demoiselles IF during their typical flight behaviour during territory defence.
Some more.
Sandy water BG makes the look much smoother (and the job for the AF easier, very pleased with the AF performance).
I know, I have a hot pixel in the first photo. Didn't have the passion to repair that in pp.
Did run the sensor auto analysis afterwards. Hope, it is gone now.

I proudly present my number 16 dragonfly species (+12 damselfies) at my local hunting grounds - but not at my ponds nearby:
A southern skimmer (orthetrum brunneum)
R6m2, 100-500+ext. @700mm, f/16, 1/1000, ISO1250

Aaaaand *drum roll* - also from yesterday - , my #17 dragonfly species, making it an overall of 29 (!) dragons and damsels within a few square kilometres:

A green snaketail (ophiogomphus cecilia), an endangered species in Bavaria
R6m2, 100-500+ext. @700mm
The last two show the trade of DOF versus high ISO loss in the details

After shooting my first damselfly of the morning yesterday, I decided that I wanted to avoid shots with folded wings for the rest of the session, which turns out to be harder than I expected :)

R*+100-500L:

First shot:

Almost, but not quite folded:

The angles almost made a 90 degree composition:

Switching to the R7+RF100L

Folded, but with a new-to-me perspective:

Bingo:

The overcast weather made me very happy with DxO PR4!
