Yeah this wasn’t what I was hoping for.. I’m sure it’s useful for some people. I wish they would do a massive update like they did with the 1dx and 2.0.0 or whatever it was, new functions and goodies..

Whilst I'm not normally somebody who encourages mid life updates it does seem to me Canon could comparatively easily wring the neck of the A9 with a 1DX MkII firmware upgrade that would easily hold its own until the MkIII comes out in 2020, it sure does seem like a long way off to the Japan Olympics...

Do you think the 1D X II is falling behind the a9 in any way other than lines of text on a list of specifications? Are there long lines of photographers at the Sony booths/rooms at major sporting events, while the Canon booth staffers are sitting around chatting and playing pinocle?

interesting
you say that PBD, when i bought my 1DX2 i had a 1D4 and two batteries , i tried them in the DX2 and it only accepted one as genuine. although both worked fine in the mk4. on closer inspection there where slight differences on the battery labels, but i can not remember now what they where

Yes, that is exactly what I see. Stupid Canon....

;)

I'm also baffled by the seemingly lack of desire to update a few features that surely wouldn't be costly. I'm still occasionally forgetting to change the card choice back after having the card out to my computer, but not too often.

Mostly I love the camera.

WOOOOOOOW!
THIS IS NOT MINOR FOR ME, THIS IS A GAMECHANGER!!!

I struggled with the bug that the camera froze and lost the file when using HDMI out.
I was realy realy close to selling the camera (I need it for studio work but I also do photography and I want 4k, so there is nothing left I could use on Canon....)
This may be my rescue!
