Small Mammals

While trying to get some jumping spider images I found my first Merriam's Chipmunk den. Five little ones but only had decent shots with four at any point(also near midday).

As the weather turns warmer, water in the southwest becomes more of a draw. On a seldom used road in the park, a small spring has broken through the pavement over the years and provides a small pool of water near some low bushes. I had laid down to minimize the 'pavement' aspect with the visiting birds and had a Long-tailed Weasel come bounding in along the side.

And while there was a bumper crop of these guys this year, still fun to watch the juveniles start to forage on their own.

And a Merriam's Chipmunk with a Palmers Lilac 'taco'.

And just out of the den and enjoying a Black Oak tassel.

I must have looked like a wildlife pro using a 600mm + 1.4X TC to capture this front yard bunny at 25 feet...View attachment 218770
The result is pretty much like from a Pro wildlife photog! Only the object is not what the Pro will waste it's time for (well, who knows...)! What you did use to take the photo is your very own choice: what matters is the result!

Thanks! My wife has been enjoying that rabbit's antics for a couple of weeks, so it was time for a portrait session.
