Canon EOS R5 Mark II Images & Specifications

As a 75% video shooter / 25% stills shooter, this does not seem like a good video camera to me. The hassle of worrying about if I have the right batteries or the cooling grip for certain situations is the last thing I want to worry about filming on location. And the “cinema” features are few and far between. I don’t see a need to add this cam if you already run the R5C/C300/C70.

If you shoot mostly stills but also need video occasionally then this should be a great cam for you.

But this also makes me think they will release an R5C Mark II that hopefully has clog2, better AF, etc etc.

Where did you read jpeg only? I read it as RAW or jpeg (depending on what mode you're in)
15 frames pre-burst is fine.

I have a pre-order in, but sitting down and looking at everything...

I'm now leaning towards canceling, and just buying another R5.

I'm primarily a stills shooter. Primarily landscape, architecture, and some dabbling in street/portraits. Going into the mark ii I wanted to see a BSI sensor with some improvement in real world DR, and a tilt screen. Those were my two highest wishes.

The mark ii seems solid, but for what I shoot it doesn't really appear to offer any significant value added, and most definitely not $1500 USD. I'm going to give it a few days to think it over, but I'll probably just buy another R5, and a 35 1.4.

R5ii at least has focus breathing correction, something Canon couldn't be bothered with adding to the former not flagship top of line R3.

Ted Forbes (of The Art of Photography) mentions better low light performance as one of the great things about it. Of course, like probably every other reviewer who already has a video, he got flown out to Arizona by Canon to try it out, so take it with the requisite pinch of salt.

totally agree. I was thinking of buying the R5II as a 2nd camera to my R5C but although it's close to what I need/want on the video side it doesn't get there for me. If they give us an R5CII i'd buy immediately but there's talk that Canon won't be doing this now. Maybe i'll wait and get a C400 later on

You are more awake than I am. As others have stated: they have had months to prepare the launch and provide correct information.

One thing I've noticed while pondering over keeping my pre-order. It looks like they've gone back to something more similar to the EOS R grip vs. the R5, which is welcome as the EOS R grip was basically perfect, and the R5 sucks in comparison.

I just asked someone who will have it in their hands today. I'm so confused by the information on these cameras. Canon UK and Canon Europe have it written as "yes", Canon USA and others don't say anything. Usually there's a note if it needs something external. EOS R5 pages in North America mention the GPS via Bluetooth.

Maybe it's why the question has been confusing for us.

All the European sites say yes, North America and Australia say nothing.

Maybe part of Canon HQ's efforts to keep a lid on leaks. Don't provide the specs to the local geographies until the last minute, so translating them is a rush job.
