Assuming they didn't get confused with the R5 mark one, congrats! I preordered at 12:01 CEST, haven't heard anything besides the confirmation e-mail. I also phoned cameraland.nl and they said Canon promised them a mid-August shipment, of unknown size. They were happy with that info, the previous launches were more like "we'll tell you when we ship them, not before."

A few things that are missing, which surprised me:
  • No oversampled video modes beyond 30p, even 4k sRAW isn't oversampled
  • 2k video modes are downsampled from non-downsampled 4k. Still a net wi
  • A menu that "does what I want", it will still say "Can't do this, disable other feature first". If you assign that action to a button, the camera does do the disabling by itself. Prime example: IBIS autolevel needs MS on the R7, so you have to go through multiple menus to use it. Or assign it to a button.
  • CFe 4.0. But I'll be happy already if it does more than the 500Mbyte/s the R5 is limited to.
Missing things that didn't surprise me, but I will still miss:
  • Builtin GPS
  • Builtin flash transmitter
The main thing I wanted, flash with ES, is present, up to 1/160s. That is only slightly slower than the R3, which does 1/180s. My backyard camera trap uses an off-camera cord, the OC-E3, I'm not looking forward to needing the OC-E4 (€250!!) if I ever upgrade to a smart-shoe flash.

The emails have R5 Mk II and BG-R20 in the text. Like you: I believe it when I have the camera in my hands.

CRGuy said the launch was postponed from mid-may so Canon could produce enough stock. This appears to be the case.

In the Nina Bailey Vimeo, the focus bracketing menu was shown. It now supports flash and even better, has an option to set an extra delay in between shots to give the flash time to (re)charge! I do think the flash and camera should do this automatically, but this is progress nonetheless!

With the R3 and EL-1, the delay until charged is automatic. That setting is there on the R3 to allow use of other flashes.

I was pretty surprised about the oversampling thing as well. It can do 8k60 so oversampled 4k60 seems like a weird omission. Maybe 8k60 is right at the limit of what's doable and there's just not enough processing power left over to do the downsample? I can understand RAW because, well, you basically would need to debayer and then its not really raw anymore?

I'm _also_ surprised they didn't finally nail the video menus down. On the plus side, Canon seems to know their video menus are a bit of an issue because they've been tweaking them with every body. Hopefully they can firmware some QOL improvements to the menus here. I get why they're being so conservative, but maybe a custom function to automatically disable/enable video mode dependencies.

Interesting. Who did you order through, Amazon? I have a friend that made his pre-order through Amazon, and he got an email updating him to expect it to ship next week. We both just assumed it was probably a mistake of some sort. I wonder if they actually will ship out that early.

I also made my pre-order through Amazon as soon as they were up, and I haven't had a shipping alert at all.

Had placed my order at 8:00 AM PT, with B&H and still no ETA on when they can ship :-( Waited 4 years for the Canon ML I wanted, so a few more months will be OK I guess..

The EXACT SAME image processor even without the new coprocessor can handle 8K oversampled 4K60p in the R5C which was released YEARS ago.

There is NO technical reason that could explain this. Canon seemingly wants to limit the R5 Mark II artificially. Maybe to leave room for another camera like the R5C Mark II to have "8K oversampled 4K60p" as an EXCLUSIVE feature.

Really disappointing...

Asked him to grab a screen shot of his order, and just to quell any potential excitement, his order updated to now show they'll contact him when it's ready to ship again. Same as mine.

No, I ordered through a large camera store in the Netherlands. I first ordered the body since the grip was not on the site and ordered the grip a few hours later. E-mails from a customer support person state that they’ll receive both body and grip from Canon on July 21 and ship a few days later. I believe it when I have the body in my hands ;) .

CRGuy has stated earlier the R5 Mk II launch was postponed from mid-May so Canon could build up stock. This appears to be the case.

Well duh, even the most expensive medium format cameras for $50.000 do not capture more than 14-bit color range.
Phase One IQ4 has 13.33 stops according to Photonstophotos. The EOS R5 is still one of the top performing full frame cameras regarding dynamic range, better than Sony A1 and Nikon Z9. Even if its DR was improved by a full stop, it would still not be more colors than a 14-bit file can handle.
