Canon EOS R50 V, EOS RV & PowerShot V1 Coming March 26

Yes, I was hoping/assuming that the rumors about the RV and R50V being 2 separate bodies meant that we'd be seeing a ZV-E10 level body (which the R50V seems to be) and an FX30 level body. Keeping hope that it will come along later this year with the R7MkII and a new sensor.
Very likely. Right now Canon is using the same tactic as Sony to compete in the market.

R50V and R100 will be the ones clearing Canon's 24MP APS-C CMOS&DIGIC 8 & older DIGIC X stock. While R50ii, R10ii, R7ii, RV will set a new line up for the upcoming 4yrs.

My guess is that all these VCM primes will be the same size (like the 24-105/2.8 and 70-200/2.8 Z lenses), to enable simple swapping in rigs.

An f/1.4 lens wider than 20mm would be too big.
Agreed with this and am hoping that advance copies are in some photographer’s hands that will test this lens with Astro. I am still hoping Canon will produce at least 1 decent WA lens for astro with acceptable corners. I will take wider than this ultimately but will happily replace my Sigma 24mm f1.4 lens with this if it is decent.

I find it curious that detailed specs of the R50 V haven't leaked out yet. It's designed to be affordable, so it's safe to say that it will have some limitations. That's not a "cripple hammer", that's just designing a camera to meet a target price.

Just based on the name, I am guessing it is going to be R50 internals in a ZV-E10 style housing, maybe with a few more video modes.

It would make sense based on the rumored $650 price as well (the R50's MSRP is $680, and is currently available new for $580).

I do hope it gets all the new software based improvements from the firmwares in other cameras, like the R5II. All the little improvements over the years add up to a lot.

PowerShot V1 annoyance #1 – the tripod socket. It's literally as close as possible to the battery door. Plus, the battery door is a different design than, for example, the M6 and M6II where the door slides even further away from the tripod socket before flipping open. That means finding an Arca-type plate that allows the door to be opened without removing the plate will be difficult.

None of the RRS plates are likely to fit, though the dedicated G1X base plate looks close and perhaps RRS will design one for the V1. Perhaps one of the Hejnar plates for the G5X/II will fit?
