It seems that someone snagged a photo of a future Canon camera, with the identifier of EOS RV. It's a compact camera looking to have a similar frame as the PowerShot V1.

me too!

I hope they do a decent job with the specifications - I'd love to see the 32MP sensor in there, but I doubt it because it's video orientated.

So I suspect we'll just see the 24MP sensor - again.
Strangely the 32MP is still the fastest Canon has in crop format, reusing the 24MP would, again, mean no usable electronic shutter.
The leaf shutter in the V1 makes up for that, but the RV will most likely have a normal shutter.

Anyway, my R8 still has no real competition :)

Damn, i hate the look of the current RF-S lenses with the small diameter and big lens mount. This new lens looks much better already.
Its also ugly in this silver-black combination. Just make it all silver or all black.

So a whole new lineup of "RV"power zoom lenses? Interesting. The picture looks a bit thick. But something to replace my M6II is something I would keep my eye on. But given the build, it is reminding me much more of the smaller cinema bodies. I am wondering how far skewed to that direction it will be (spoken as a primary stills photographer).

I’m looking forward to all these smaller bodies!
Same here. But I suppose this one won't be my "small body".

No EVF -> no purchase.
For such a cam I want an attachable one. Without that, I'm out.

Also, the elaborated ergonomics are not mine.
I can understand the purpose of that power zoom lever on the shutter button.
And I hope that those working with it will like it.
But I prefer the smooth shutter button that we have with most EOS cameras.
That was one reason why I didn't like the EOS M models and other brands either.
But that's just me.

I'm not sure how the ergonomics would "work" we haven't seen enough of it, but the shutter button look pretty square on the body too.

looks very much like a powershot.

maybe it's a PowerShot EOS RV

stranger things have happened in Canon-Land.
