This afternoon locally. I had another shot of it in flight, ruiningly blurred. I've just put it through maximum sharpening with Topaz and I think it is enough to see it is a female Blacktailed Skimmer…

These indeed look like a black-tailed skimmer

Fully agree! Esp. with the dark BG. Wonderful photo.
A really wonderful design that Evolution has come up with. And that already exists for more than 300 million years, almost unchanged for 150 million years.
