A few weeks ago I planted bamboo sticks in my garden to serve as dragonfly perches and yesterday a dragon used on for eating its catch for a few hours. The stills are in my 'to edit' queue, but I did process the movies already:

It was relaxed enough that I could setup a tripod and use 180L for filming very close to MFD. I found another "phenomenon" in the R7 AF, it would give a nice blue focus confirmed box, but be focused a milimeter behind the intended plane, everything in the box would be OOF. Using the lens ring to move the focus to MFD would make it refocus correctly. This was with a backlit subject with the camera in direct sunlight in 30 degree C weather, so I can't really get worked up about it :)

And finally the stills. It was great to have a dragonfly modelling for over 2 hours, it allowed me to experiment with using a ring flash, shading it with a white cloth to avoid sun hotspots clipping the highlights, trying funny angles and finally using a tripod.

You can see a bit of its meal when zooming in:

A combination of the EF180L and RF100-500L on an R7.

And a video of it chewing:

A great opportunity that has been exploited to the full. Well done, Koen (y)
