Green Hermit Hummingbird seen on a recent trip to Trinidad and Tobago. Hermits fly through the forest understory very quickly, occasionally stopping to feed at flowers in a behavior called traplining.

A pair of White-tailed Sabrewing Hummingbirds (male on the left, female on the right) engages a third while visiting a feeder at the Shurland James Hummingbird Nature Center on Tobago. Hummingbirds are fiercely territorial, aggressively protecting feeding resources, even when feeders provide essentially unlimited resources. The White-tailed Sabrewing is a near-endemic, restricted to Tobago and the nearby regions of northeastern Venezuela.
