Agree completely about the flippy screen. Sony was able to incorporate both styles in their A7R V. I wish Canon would have done the same. Flip out LCD screens are ridiculous for photographers (in most circumstances).

It seems like pricing is something that is often determined at the last minute. I never count on price rumors being correct because of this. That said, getting up into the 4s may well eliminate any GAS that I might be feeling, if for no other reason than I\'m tired of being price gouged every time I turn around. We\'ll see. Maybe the increase will be justified—though not by the Yen, which is weak as hell right now.
You are correct. I went back to the photos and realized the left photo is of the R1. So still an unknown, I guess, on the R5. There's still hope!I believe the rear view your referring to is that of the R1 not the R5
Yes they do. They just don't make one.
I believe full size HDMI has already been confirmedLooks like the cover on the HDMI port is a decent size which might indicate full size HDMI. Positive!
R5ii being 4k+ that is better than a1 Z8 in every metric is a problem? As long as the AF on par or better than a9iii. I think it's ok for what it is.I am not sure how Canon is going to justify $4k+ in a world where the Z8 can be had for $3500. On the plus side, makes me think they're confident about the performance at least. And as a counter point, Sony's still getting $6500 for the A1 and this should pretty much blow it out of the water.
Edit: I know this is my personal hobby horse but come on $4k+ and they've leaving the optical AF selector for the R3/R1? That's baloney. You want that price you throw the kitchen sink at it.
Canon gets ripped no matter what they do.I am honestly not looking forward to the YouTube chatter about the cooling grip. I think Canon's gonna get ripped for it - "Sony and Nikon don't need a cooling grip!"
This is better than that.I am not sure how Canon is going to justify $4k+ in a world where the Z8 can be had for $3500.
Tell you what. After Canon loses tens of thousands of customers to Nikon, and Canon’s market share plummets while Nikon’s rises, you can come back here and tell us all, “See, I told you so.”I am not sure how Canon is going to justify $4k+ in a world where the Z8 can be had for $3500.

Not going to hold my breath.
Staying up all night is rough. I am on the east coast of the US so I can get some sleep, but do plan to be up at 5 a.m. I am very curious to see what lenses are also announced.Have to say I'm a little surprised at all the moaning online at the leaked pics of the R5mii. Of course it wasn't going to "look" too different from the R5... IMO that is a GOOD thing; the big changes are hopefully in the GUTS with stacked/BSI sensor, faster processing, IBIS tweaks, etc.
It's going to be a long night; since i'm left coast I decided to just stay up for everything.
Fair, and thanks. I guess my point is, position to whom? To me, it seems the target market for the R5II are primarily owners of 5-series DSLRs, and secondarily owners 6-series DSLRs, the EOS R, and R6 owners looking to upgrade. Given Nikon’s market share, I doubt Canon or their marketing department particularly care about them.Neuro I love ya man but not all of us are constantly out to get Canon. I am not second guessing them, but I am genuinely curious how Canon's marketing will position this. Big four digit numbers can be a big hurdle for consumers.
Are we looking at more of a:
- Like Sony and the A1, Canon feels they can charge more or less whatever they want because very few people are switching systems at this end. Nikon is the only one scrambling and trying to compete on price.
- (My hope) This is gonna be a pretty kickass rig and the bump will be justified. IIRC the 5D4 had the same launch price as the 5D3 (though admittedly that was a modest inflationary period)
Seriously though: I'm not here to rack up I told you so points.
