Here are a couple of images of the EOS R1 and EOS R5 Mark II

There is definitely eye control AF.
I would much rather have that.

All I can say is that the eye control AF seems much better than prior versions.

we did write about a lot of different patent applications that Canon was doing on eye control AF - they weren't standing still on this.

I'm seriously stoked waiting on this announcement.

New images R1 and R5 Mark 2

Am I the only one that thinks that on the 5D series grip looked more unified with the body?

The R5II + cooling grip makes it larger and more clunkly looking to me than the R1. That makes me think that either I won't bother with the cooling grip (as I haven't done video or astrophotography), or actually getting the R1 instead of the R5II. I shoot portrait shots more frequently than landscape, so I wouldn't want to take the cooling grip on/off to deal with it that way. I never thought I'd consider the R1 due to size, but this has made me consider it now and I'll have to think about the difference in # of sensor pixels vs whatever better things there are in the R1 vs the R5II. Maybe I'll have my "old" R5 and new R1? It's interesting since 2 options come out at the same time which (for me) compete against each other.
You don't do video - you do not need the cooling grip. Keep things simple... Besides, one does not decide on R1 or R5 based on the grip, obviously.

As per the leaked pics above:

1. R5II needs to have a 'Active cooling grip' for extended video.
2. R5II to have another 'Regular grip' with RJ45 port
3. R5II needs to have a 'bulky Eyepiece attachment' to take advantage of the Eye Control Auto focus.

It sure becomes a Bulky camera.

The pictures seem to show 3 grips for the R5: the cooling one, a boring looking one and one with an RJ45 socket.
wowwwwwieee :D
Each priced at say - $400 ? at least??

so - $4650 + 400+400+400 = $ 5850 with Grips.
That is Fuji GFX Medium format territory. Canon invading the medium format territory. Price wise. Get a Grip on that.
;)

The eye piece if definitely for video to block out light and see the EVF better. I can tell you don't do video lol. Also I have a question for you that you might know. Usually people tether with USB because most cameras don't have LAN ports but can the rj45 can be used for photo tethering or just for control?

yes, let me know how you attach all three grips on at the same time and shoot stills with the video eyepiece attachment attached.

your point 3 is completely wrong.

if the camera is not for you - go find one that is. I'm sure there will be many other people lining up to get this from Canon.

Did you know that you can also increase the font size to show that your posts are more important than posts of others?

Besides, I bought the grip for the original R5 exactly to increase its "bulkiness". Otherwise it's too small for my hands.

Well i just hope The cooling grip will be only for 8K60 if it’s gonna be for more video modes That’s a bummer i just wanna a small body that can Compete with z8 and fx3 regarding video options and battery life Without depending on accessories.
